Here are some things I've done in life that probably would not come up in an interview, but tell you know a little more about who I am...
I was a College Radio Show Co-Host. The weekly show ran 3.5 years circa 2005-09 and was called "The Peep Show." We played 90s and indie music on MIami University's WMSR, available at the time online only. Thankfully for everyone, there are no recordings.
Former Rower & Rowing Coach: I have more than decade worth of rowing experience. I rowed in High School, and on the Club team at Miami University. I also held several different coaching roles in which I taught and trained high school rowing, collegiate club and adult recreational teams (aged 21-65+). I spent too much time at the boathouse, I burned out and am now an enthusiastic spectator and look forward to re-entering rowing in perhaps another 10-15 years.
Century Home Renovator: Completed exhaustive renovations to restore a 1870s home back into a state of glory. Skills employed during this project included all facets of planning and design, demolition, waterproofing, wood-siding restoration, concrete repair, general contracting, painting and all the other things they don't show on HGTV.
Backyard chicken keeper: For five years I raised and managed a flock of backyard chickens, at times with a flock as large as 9 laying hens.
Avid gardener: I was honored as the 2023 "Star Gardener" of the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood. The prize was this lovely title and feeling a lot of love from my neighborhood gardening community.
